So why cleanse? Why is it so important?

Cleansing the skin is crucial for keeping skin healthy and vivacious. This is the most important step of the routine because it dissolves and removes dirt, excess oil, sweat, makeup, and product leftover from the day. Also, when your skin is clean, the products you follow up with can penetrate the skin better and do their jobs.

 

You want to wash your face (including the neck area) for at least 1 minute in a circular motion to make sure you get all the areas of the face and get the cleanser into the skin. Also, it is important to wash your face EVERY NIGHT! Cleanse skin at night to remove products and dirt from the day, and in the morning to remove overnight shedding.

Some additional tips:

  • Don’t wash your face in the shower. I know it saves time and I used to do it all the time, but the water is usually too hot for your face. Cleanse your face and take the extra time for yourself after you shower.

  • Try your best not to use cleansing wipes (unless you don’t have access to water) as these tend to just move the dirt around on your face.

  • Use natural and organic products (hello)

  • Don’t just “wash and go”. Apply a moisturizer and sunscreen (in the morning).

  • Drink plenty of water to keep skin hydrated and supple

  • Eat healthy foods! If your gut is unhealthy and riddled with toxins it WILL show on your face.

  • Get enough sleep so your cells have time to repair themselves while you sleep

  • USE SUNSCREEN! Protects your skin from harmful UV rays.
