How These 6 Supplements Help Manage My Stress and Keep Me Balanced

Y’all remember them chalky ass Flinstones vitamins we used to take? Personally, I hated them lol they left the worst taste in my mouth. Safe to say that since the 90s, the vitamin and supplement market has skyrocketed. It is worth over 130 BILLION dollars today. And this number will only increase as time goes on.

My body feels more in balance and I have more energy when I take them so I just wanted to share some of the vitamins that I take that help me with life. Check them out below!

Multivitamin

I usually take mykind Organics Women’s Whole Food Multivitamin because it’s made from over 30 certified organic powdered fruits, vegetables and herbs. In addition to the vitamins and minerals that we need, this vitamin also includes: holy basil which is a soothing adaptogen that brings harmony and mental clarity; alma berry extract to support beautiful skin and hair as well as the immune system, liver, brain, and heart; and lemon peel-which has 5 to 10 times the amount of the fruit itself-contains calcium, vitamin C, potassium, and fiber. It’s not a huge pill either so I find them easy to take.

Rhodiola

This particular supplement, I tend to take consistently during periods of fatigue, but I don’t take them 365 days a year. It’s said it is good to take them regularly and then take a break-like one day per week or one week a month- and rotate. I’ll go more into adaptogens in another post. Rhodiola is considered a stimulating yet balancing adaptogen that helps with stress management by actually lowering cortisol secretion, increasing mental alertness, and enhances mental and physical endurance.

Bee Pollen

Bee pollen has over 250 biologically active substances such as vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, carbs, protein, and more! These nutrients provide a cleaner source of fuel to help you get through even the toughest days and I just put a scoop in a smoothie in the morning and go!

B-Complex

There are 8 different B vitamins and each one has a specific purpose to help support our overall wellbeing from assisting in ATP production to promoting a healthy brain. Overall, vitamins B1, B2, B3, B6, and B12 help to nourish and support the nervous system. If our nervous system is strong and healthy, we can be more prepared to handle the daily stresses of life. Because life be LIFING.

Probiotic

A healthy gut helps tremendously with boosting your mental, digestive, and vaginal health for my ladies. I learned in my pharmacy school journey that a general rule of thumb for recommending probiotics is that it should contain at least 1 billion colony forming units and the particular one I take from Garden of Life has 50. Also, look for the genus Lactobacillus and Saccharomyces boulardii which are well researched. Probiotics introduce “good” bacteria to the gut which helps the body break down food, absorb nutrients, improve immunity, and combat “bad” bacteria.

Melatonin + 5-HTP

I will be sleep in 5 minutes after taking this. I love it. It has 50 mg of 5-HTP to help increase serotonin levels to help calm the mind. It also has two forms of melatonin: 3 mg that releases immediately to help you go to sleep quickly, and 3 mg of controlled release to help you stay sleep. Add a little lavender spray on the pillow and you’ll be out like a light.

This is a quick snapshot of some of the vitamins/supplements that I take daily to help with stress, focus, energy, and overall health. I just feel better when I take them consistently. I feel like my body is more in balance, I have more energy, and I just feel ready to take on the day ahead. Thanks for reading! Do you take any vitamins regularly?
